Welcome back!

Welcome Year 3!!

I hope you all have had an excellent summer and are ready to start a new exciting year. This term we have planned a range of exciting activities to engage and motivate the children to reach their full potential, which can be found on the curriculum page.

Here is a reminder for parents on some of year 3’s classroom routines.

Homework is handed out every Friday and is due back on the following Friday. The children will usually be given spellings and My Maths homework along with a literacy based task. the children will also be expected to do reading at home and have their reading journal filled in be an adult at home. If your child is struggling with homework or there are any issues please don’t hesitate to contact me, so I can help resolve them.

Children also have access to Library every Friday afternoon. They are able to take out a book of their choice after they have returned their last one. If your child has not finished the book and would like to keep it for a second week this is fine, but could you remind them to bring it in so it can be renewed on the library system. If a book is lost please let me know so I can inform the library staff.

P.E. is timetables for a Thursday and a Friday afternoon however depending on timetables and activities this can change. I will inform you of this through parent-mail. Could you please provide your child with appropriate P.E. kits for both outdoors and indoors (no football kits).

This time of year can be very warm in class, so if possible could your child please bring a water bottle to school.

If you have any other questions about the children’s timetable please do not hesitate to contact me before or after school.

Thank you,

Miss Howden (class teacher)

Mrs Brooks (teaching assisstant)

Children from Y2 to Y6 enjoyed decorating hard boiled eggs on Thursday for the annual decorated egg competition. The standard of entries was very high, which made the judges’ decisions very difficult. Prizes were awarded for the best three entries from each class. See if you can spot the winners among the photos below!

Easter Celebrations at Whitburn Primary

We have come to the end of a busy week, during which many of our parents have been able to join us to watch the children’s Easter assemblies and view the children’s work. Our final day has been spent with the children performing for each other and decorating eggs for the annual competition. Remembrance Day 2014

On Tuesday 11th November, at precisely 11am, we gathered as a school to remember those who have lost their lives in conflicts since World War I.

Natasha and Freya (Y5) also brought in some of their pocket money to donate to the Royal British Legion – coins they had been saving up for nearly a year!
